Telangana's anti-narcotics special wing, EAGLE Force , launched a series of coordinated raids across Hyderabad on Saturday, cracking down on illegal cannabis consumption and distribution following multiple complaints from the public.

The operation led to the detention of two alleged cannabis suppliers and 13 users from different parts of the city. Officials said the raids were part of the government's ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and dismantle local supply networks.

According to EAGLE Force, authorities received information that groups of youngsters were frequently gathering at Public Gardens near the State Assembly complex and consuming cannabis. Acting swiftly on the inputs, officials conducted a surprise inspection at the location and detained five individuals. Subsequent medical examinations confirmed that all five tested positive for THC , the primary psychoactive substance found in cannabis.

A case was registered at the Hyderabad Narcotics Police Station , and the individuals were referred to the de-addiction centre at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Erragadda , as part of a rehabilitation-focused approach aimed at helping users overcome substance dependence.

In another major operation, EAGLE Force worked in coordination with local police to target an alleged cannabis network operating in Jagadgirigutta and nearby areas . The action was initiated after authorities received a complaint that a person under the influence of cannabis had been behaving aggressively and creating disturbances.

During the raid, officials apprehended two suspected suppliers who were allegedly operating through pan shops in Jagadgirigutta , along with eight individuals accused of consuming cannabis. THC screening tests conducted on those detained reportedly returned positive results.

Officials stated that the two suppliers and eight users were handed over to the Station House Officer of Jagadgirigutta Police Station for further legal action under relevant provisions of the law.

In a statement, EAGLE Force reiterated its commitment to tackling drug-related offences across Telangana. Authorities emphasised that strict action would continue against those involved in the illegal narcotics trade while also promoting rehabilitation measures for individuals struggling with substance abuse.
