In a move aimed at simplifying the voter verification process, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has enabled online submission of enumeration forms as part of the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh.

The month-long exercise, which began on June 15 , will continue until July 14 , covering millions of electors across the state. The new digital facility allows voters to complete the process online instead of waiting for a visit from a Booth Level Officer (BLO) .

According to Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav , the online system is expected to speed up the verification process by allowing voter records to be matched more efficiently with the existing electoral database. The initiative is also designed to make it easier for citizens to review and update their personal details.

However, voters seeking to use the online option must meet certain requirements. Their registered mobile number must be linked to their Voter ID (EPIC) , and the name on the voter card must exactly match the name appearing on official identity documents such as Aadhaar . Even minor spelling differences could prevent the digital e-sign process from being completed successfully.

Officials said voters whose details do not match across documents can still participate in the revision process by submitting their forms through their respective BLOs.

The electoral roll revision is being conducted with July 1, 2026 , designated as the qualifying date. Election authorities expect the exercise to cover nearly 4.16 crore voters spread across 175 Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.

The revision is part of the Election Commission's broader effort to maintain accurate voter records and ensure that electoral rolls remain up to date ahead of future elections. By combining field verification with digital tools, officials hope to make the process more accessible while improving the overall quality of voter data.
