ECI Revises Maharashtra Electoral Roll Revision Schedule, Final List on November 16

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra, extending the timeline for the exercise and fixing November 16, 2026 as the date for publication of the final electoral roll.

According to a directive issued by the ECI to Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer, the final publication date has been moved from the earlier scheduled date of November 4 to November 16.

The qualifying date will remain October 1, 2026, meaning eligibility for inclusion in the electoral roll will continue to be determined with reference to that date.

Under the revised schedule, the deadline for filing claims and objections has been extended to October 12, from the earlier September 30 deadline. The extension provides additional time for voters and other stakeholders to raise objections or seek corrections during the revision process.

The ECI has scheduled the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections from August 31 to November 10. Electoral authorities will undertake the required scrutiny and disposal of representations during this period before preparing the final roll.

The revision exercise is aimed at updating the electoral rolls ahead of the publication of the final list. The process includes providing eligible citizens an opportunity to verify their details and raise claims or objections regarding entries in the electoral roll.

The ECI’s revised timetable comes as electoral authorities continue preparations for the comprehensive revision of voter lists in Maharashtra. The extension of the claims and objections period also shifts the final publication date by nearly two weeks.

With the revised schedule, the final electoral roll for Maharashtra will now be published on November 16, 2026, following completion of the claims, objections and disposal process.

The qualifying date, however, remains unchanged at October 1, ensuring that the eligibility framework for the revision continues as originally notified.
