ED Searches 18 Premises Linked To Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi, Daughter

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has searched around 18 premises linked to Karnataka PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi, his daughter and Chikkodi MP Priyanka Jarkiholi, and others as part of a fresh investigation into alleged financial irregularities.

The searches, conducted across multiple locations including Bengaluru, Belagavi and Gokak, are aimed at tracing financial transactions and establishing the possible beneficiaries of the suspected irregularities. Investigators are reportedly examining allegations surrounding the issuance of bar licences, including claims involving 18 licences, and are looking into whether money connected to the alleged transactions was subsequently transferred or invested.

The operation also covers properties linked to relatives and associates, including Y.D. Manjunath, an Excise Department official and Jarkiholi's brother-in-law. Officials have clarified that the present probe is a fresh investigation, separate from the earlier excise-related case involving Manjunath.

During such searches, the ED can examine and seize relevant documents, financial records, electronic devices and other material under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), where statutory conditions are met. Investigators can subsequently analyse the material to reconstruct transactions, identify ownership and establish links between individuals and entities.

Any material found during the searches may be used in the investigation and, where legally admissible and relevant, in subsequent proceedings. However, an ED search does not by itself establish guilt, and the allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings.
