Emirates Eyes Airbus A380 Operations From Hyderabad After Talks With CM Revanth Reddy
Telangana’s ambition to emerge as a major aviation hub received a significant boost after global airline Emirates indicated its willingness to explore the launch of Airbus A380 operations from Hyderabad . The development came during a meeting between Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Mohammad Sarhan, Vice President of Emirates for India and Nepal , held as the Dubai-based carrier celebrates 25 years of operations in India .
During the discussions, Revanth Reddy urged Emirates to strengthen its presence in Hyderabad by expanding its network and increasing flight frequencies. He specifically requested the airline to consider introducing the Airbus A380 , the world’s largest passenger aircraft, on services connecting Hyderabad with key international destinations. The Chief Minister highlighted the city’s rapid growth as a centre for technology, business and aviation, noting that stronger international connectivity would further accelerate Telangana’s economic development.
The Chief Minister also showcased Telangana’s long-term aviation vision, pointing to the upcoming airports planned at Warangal and Adilabad . He invited Emirates to become a larger partner in the state’s aviation ecosystem by exploring opportunities in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations , a sector that Telangana is keen to develop. Revanth assured the airline of the state government’s full support for any future investments and expansion plans.
In addition to aviation, Revanth Reddy encouraged Emirates to contribute to the state’s sporting ecosystem. He proposed that the airline support athlete development and training programmes at the Gachibowli Sports University through sponsorship initiatives and strategic partnerships.
Responding positively to the proposals, Mohammad Sarhan said Emirates would examine the feasibility of launching A380 services from Hyderabad and would also consider opportunities to support sports development in Telangana through sponsorship programmes.
The meeting is being seen as an important step towards enhancing Hyderabad’s global connectivity , attracting aviation-related investments and strengthening Telangana’s position as a growing centre for international aviation and infrastructure development.
