
Emraan Hashmi Returns To Horror Genre With Musical Film Rooh
Emraan Hashmi is set to return to the horror genre with his upcoming film Rooh , a high-concept musical horror drama officially slated for a theatrical release in 2027 . The film will release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu , marking a multi-language rollout aimed at a wider audience.
Directed by Mayank Sharma , known for creating Prime Video’s acclaimed Breathe franchise, Rooh aims to blend horror, music, and emotion into a cinematic experience designed for the big screen. The film is written by Mayank Sharma and Vishal Kapoor , known for Lapachhapi and Chhorii , and produced by Vikram Khakhar and Sunny Khanna under Vicked Films Productions.
Speaking about the project, Emraan Hashmi said the film connects with him as it brings together new-age horror, emotion, and music , adding that the world being created feels intense and cinematic . Director Mayank Sharma described Rooh as an attempt to go beyond fear and build a deeply emotional and atmospheric horror experience .
According to the makers, the film will be more than a conventional horror story, combining supernatural elements, emotion, and music into a unique theatrical experience. Music is expected to play a significant role, aligning with Hashmi’s long-standing association with strong film soundtracks.
Hashmi has previously featured in several horror and supernatural films including Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009), Raaz 3 (2012), Ek Thi Daayan (2013), Raaz Reboot (2016), and Dybbuk (2021).
