A theft during a family celebration is not uncommon, but stolen valuables returning to the owner’s doorstep is certainly unusual. In a surprising incident in Naidupeta , gold jewellery that went missing during an engagement ceremony was delivered back to the victims’ home through a courier nearly 20 days later, creating a buzz locally. Whether the thief had a change of heart or returned the ornaments fearing police surveillance has now become a topic of discussion.

A couple from Tirupati had recently attended an engagement ceremony held at a private function hall in Naidupeta. Amid the festivities, the valuable gold jewellery they had brought with them suddenly went missing. Despite searching the venue thoroughly, the ornaments could not be found. The victims then approached the local police and lodged a complaint. A case was registered and an investigation was launched.

However, the case took an unexpected turn. Nearly 20 days after the theft, an anonymous courier parcel arrived at the victims’ residence. To their surprise, the parcel contained all the missing gold jewellery, safely packed. While the victims felt relieved to have their valuables back, the unusual development left the police equally astonished.

Responding to the incident, Naidupeta DSP G. Chanti Babu said that the return of the missing ornaments through a courier was unusual. “We have collected fingerprints from the jewellery. We suspect that someone very close to the family or known to them may be involved. The ornaments might have been returned out of fear of being caught,” he said.

Police have now intensified the investigation to trace where the courier was booked from. They also advised people to remain cautious about unfamiliar individuals during family functions and celebrations.
