England dominated possession, created a host of chances and piled on pressure until the final whistle, but a determined Ghana side stood firm to earn a hard fought 0-0 draw in their FIFA World Cup Group L encounter in Foxborough on Tuesday.

The result leaves both teams with work still to do before confirming their places in the knockout rounds . Having won their opening matches, England and Ghana remain well placed in the group, but neither could take a decisive step toward qualification.

The Three Lions controlled much of the contest and enjoyed nearly 60 per cent possession in the first half. However, despite dictating the tempo, they struggled to convert their dominance into goals against a disciplined Ghana defence that remained compact and organized throughout.

England's attack repeatedly threatened but lacked the finishing touch. Captain Harry Kane came close before halftime when he found space inside the penalty area, only to miss a promising opportunity that could have given his side the lead.

The match sprang to life in the second half as both teams searched for a breakthrough. Ghana showed greater attacking intent after the restart and nearly created a golden opportunity in the 50th minute when Marvin Senaya met a ball inside the box, but his effort was blocked by England's defence.

Ghana's best opening arrived in the 78th minute. Abdul Fatawu won possession and surged down the flank before delivering a dangerous pass to Prince Adu . Just as Adu looked set to pull the trigger, defender Ezri Konsa recovered brilliantly to deny him. Ghana appealed for a foul, but play continued.

England's biggest chance came four minutes from time. Nico O'Reilly rose highest to meet a cross and saw his header crash against the crossbar. Kane reacted quickest to the rebound, but his left footed attempt sailed over the goal, summing up a frustrating evening for the European side.

The statistics reflected England's dominance, with the team outshooting Ghana 19-1 , yet the scoreline remained unchanged thanks to Ghana's disciplined defending and unwavering determination.

England will now face Panama in their final group stage fixture, while Ghana will look to secure qualification when they take on Croatia . With knockout places still up for grabs, Group L remains finely balanced heading into the decisive final round of matches.
