Malkajgiri MP Etela Rajender has urged officials to prioritise public grievances, improve the delivery of government services and ensure the effective implementation of Central government schemes across Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

Speaking at a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held at the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) in the Medchal-Malkajgiri Collectorate, Rajender reviewed the progress of various government departments and discussed measures to address issues affecting residents.

The MP stressed the need to improve facilities at Anganwadi centres, particularly the quality of nutrition and services, in response to public complaints. He asked the district collector to explore shifting centres with inadequate infrastructure to nearby community halls. Officials were also advised to resolve minor disputes involving women and children amicably, within the framework of the law.

Rajender called for stronger measures to protect government lands from encroachments. He suggested fencing vacant government plots and developing them into parks and community halls. Instead of auctioning government land, he proposed using suitable sites to establish vegetable markets and small shops that could provide livelihood opportunities for the poor. He also called for better coordination between municipal authorities and traffic police to address problems faced by weekly market organisers and street vendors.

Highlighting the pressure of population growth on urban infrastructure, the MP emphasised the need for stormwater drains, sewage treatment plants and drinking water pipelines. He asked officials to regularly review facilities in double-bedroom housing complexes, including drinking water supply and CCTV cameras, and improve fire station operations and emergency preparedness.

On healthcare, Rajender called for better labour rooms in government hospitals, reliable cold-chain facilities, uninterrupted medicine supplies and power backup during electricity outages. He suggested submitting proposals for temporary appointments wherever urban health centres and primary health centres face staff shortages. He also stressed the need to ensure uninterrupted Telangana Diagnostics services and adequate ambulance availability.

The MP directed railway officials to complete road overbridge (ROB) and road underbridge (RUB) projects within the stipulated deadlines. He also asked officials to prevent disruptions in the issuance of new ration cards and rice distribution.

Rajender urged the collector to discuss funding requirements with the Chief Minister to address problems in areas recently merged into municipalities. He further recommended utilising Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds wherever necessary to improve basic facilities for women, pregnant women and children.

MLAs Chamakura Malla Reddy, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy and Bandari Lakshma Reddy, District Collector Manu Choudary, additional collectors, senior departmental officials and DISHA committee members attended the meeting.
