The Maharashtra Legislative Council witnessed heated protests on Monday as opposition parties demanded a CBI probe into the alleged leak of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 question paper and sought the resignation of Education Minister Dada Bhuse .

The House was briefly adjourned for 30 minutes following a ruckus by opposition members. Raising the issue, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve questioned the government’s preparedness, citing earlier paper leak controversies and alleging that examination irregularities worth crores of rupees had become frequent.

“If exams cannot be conducted properly, the education minister should resign,” Danve said.

Congress leaders also targeted the government, with Satej Patil stressing that conducting error-free examinations was the government’s responsibility. Congress MLC Jayant Asgaonkar demanded a CBI investigation , while party colleague Dhiraj Lingade alleged that the country’s education system had collapsed.

NCP (SP) leader Arun Lad accused the government of failing to introduce strict laws to prevent paper leaks, claiming such incidents had become common.

Responding to the allegations, Dada Bhuse said a detailed statement would be presented in the House later. He informed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had already been formed and multiple teams were probing the case, assuring that strict action would be taken against those responsible.

The TET 2026 examination was postponed a day before it was scheduled after police in Thane detected that a portion of the question paper had been leaked and arrested three people. Following the incident, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered an SIT probe led by Thane Joint Commissioner of Police Panjabrao Ugale .
