Fake Cotton Seed Racket Busted In Hyderabad, ₹30 Lakh Worth Material Seized

In a major crackdown ahead of the kharif season, Telangana Police have busted a fake cotton seed manufacturing and distribution racket , seizing counterfeit material worth around ₹30 lakh and arresting three individuals involved in the operation.

The coordinated operation was carried out by the Malkajgiri SOT along with Tirumalagiri Police , following a complaint that exposed large-scale misuse of a registered seed company’s branding to circulate adulterated agricultural inputs in the market.

According to police sources, the case came to light after Solanke Yashwant Rao , marketing manager of a Gujarat-based agri firm, filed a complaint alleging that a Hyderabad-based entity, New Rythu Sampada Seeds , was producing and distributing fake seed packets under a deceptively similar brand identity. The company’s managing director, identified as Yeruva Balashouri Reddy alias Shiva Reddy , was named as the key accused.

Acting on intelligence inputs, police intercepted a Maruti Eeco vehicle near the Boinpally vegetable market yard , where they discovered around 12,800 counterfeit seed packets being transported. Three individuals, the MD, an employee Kaparthi Benjamin , and designer Donga Srinu were taken into custody on the spot.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused group was allegedly driven by financial distress and the lure of quick profits . Police further found that the fake packaging designs were created by Donga Srinu and printed at a facility located in Bahadurpally in Medak district .

In addition, investigators uncovered a stockpile of nearly 2,000 kilograms of seeds , which had been collected from farmers and stored at an office in Bandlaguda , where they were reportedly being prepared for repackaging into counterfeit branded covers.

Following the raid, police seized the seeds, printing materials, a vehicle, and three mobile phones , and registered a case against the accused. Further investigation is underway to identify wider distribution networks linked to the racket.
