FASTag Annual pass crosses 50 lakh users, transforms highway commuting
In a major boost to the government’s initiative of enhancing the ‘Ease of Commuting’, the FASTag Annual Pass has emerged as a widely accepted solution for seamless highway travel, crossing 50 lakh users within just six months of its launch. Introduced on August 15, 2025, the pass has facilitated over 26.55 crore toll transactions, reflecting its growing popularity among private vehicle owners across the country.
According to official data, nearly 28 per cent of total car transactions on India’s National Highway network are now being carried out using the FASTag Annual Pass, underlining its increasing preference among regular highway commuters.
The Annual Pass allows non-commercial vehicle owners to make a one-time payment of ₹3,000 , offering validity for one year or up to 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever is earlier. Applicable at around 1,150 toll plazas on National Highways and National Expressways, the pass eliminates the need for frequent FASTag recharges. It is activated within two hours on an existing FASTag after payment through the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website, ensuring a fully digital and hassle-free process.
Usage trends highlight strong adoption in high-traffic corridors. Bijwasan Fee Plaza in Delhi NCR has emerged as the top location, with around 57 per cent of car crossings taking place through the Annual Pass. This is followed by Mundaka Fee Plaza in Delhi NCR and Jhinjholi Fee Plaza in Sonipat, both registering about 53 per cent usage among non-commercial vehicles.
Region-wise analysis further indicates widespread acceptance across diverse geographies. Chandigarh leads the country, accounting for 14 per cent of total Annual Pass transactions , followed by Tamil Nadu at 12.3 per cent and Delhi at 11.5 per cent , demonstrating strong uptake from northern urban hubs to southern states.
Beyond convenience, the FASTag Annual Pass offers significant benefits such as reduced travel time , cost savings for frequent commuters , and smooth traffic flow at toll plazas .
