Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania Appointed to TG TRANSCO Board

The Telangana government has appointed Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary of the Finance Department, as a Non-Whole-Time Director on the board of the Telangana State Transmission Corporation Limited (TG TRANSCO). The appointment brings a senior IAS officer with experience in financial administration and the state's energy sector onto the board of the power transmission utility.

The Energy Department issued Government Order (GO) No. 41 on November 3, formalising the appointment. According to the order, the decision was taken in accordance with an earlier government order issued by the Finance Department on June 4, 2026. The government has directed the Chairman and Managing Director of TG TRANSCO to take the necessary steps to implement the appointment.

Sultania is a 1998-batch IAS officer of the Telangana cadre and originally hails from Bihar. He has an academic background in accountancy and is a Chartered Accountant, bringing experience in financial management and public administration to his new role. Over the years, he has held several senior positions in the state government, handling responsibilities across multiple departments.

His previous assignments include serving as Secretary to the Chief Minister and Principal Secretary of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development. He has also held senior responsibilities in the Transport, Tourism and Cooperation departments. Earlier in his administrative career, he served as the District Collector of Karimnagar and as Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. These assignments provided him with experience in district administration, infrastructure-related departments and public-sector institutions.

Sultania has also had an earlier association with Telangana's power sector. In October 2024, he was given full additional charge as Secretary of the Energy Department and Chairman and Managing Director of TG TRANSCO and TGGENCO. His previous responsibilities in the energy sector add to his administrative experience in the field.

The latest appointment was formalised through an order issued by D. Krishna Bhaskar, Special Chief Secretary (In-charge), on behalf of the Governor. The Chairman and Managing Director of TG TRANSCO has been instructed to complete the necessary formalities to give effect to the appointment.
