
FIR Against 31 in ₹100 Crore Gram Sabha Land Scam in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal
An FIR has been registered against 31 named persons and several unidentified individuals in connection with an alleged ₹100 crore gram sabha land fraud in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district, officials said on Tuesday.
The case relates to the alleged fraudulent allotment, mutation and illegal occupation of around 2.367 hectares of village community land in Takhtgushain village along the Sambhal–Moradabad road. Authorities estimate the current market value of the land at nearly ₹100 crore .
The FIR was lodged at Sambhal Kotwali police station by revenue official Sparsh Gupta following directions from District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal.
According to Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi, the accused allegedly obtained mutation of the land in 2008 using forged lease documents claimed to have been issued in 1967 , enabling them to take possession of the property.
Police said the case was initiated after an administrative inquiry uncovered multiple irregularities in the land records and allotment process.
Among those named in the FIR are former Deputy Director of Consolidation Khem Singh Khadak, former Executive Officer of Sambhal Municipal Council Raj Kumar Gupta, former municipal cartographer Shahabuddin, court representative Majid Khan, alleged leaseholder Saeedul Rahman Khan, his legal heirs, and several other individuals.
The accused have been booked on charges of cheating, forgery , and offences under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act .
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe. Authorities are also examining the roles of all individuals involved in the alleged land scam.
