An FIR has been registered against a pastor and six office-bearers of a church in Bilaspur district for alleged social boycott and mental harassment of a family, police said.

Complainant Harish Lal alleged he and his family were excluded from activities of the Church of North India (CNI) after a new committee was formed at a Kota church in Mission Compound. He claimed he was declared “ not in good standing ” in a January 17 meeting without authority and was subsequently isolated for nearly two years.

He further alleged that social media messages were circulated urging community members to sever ties with his family, causing continued harassment.

Police said the FIR was registered on July 2 under the BNS, IT Act, and Protection of Civil Rights Act following directions from a Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), after the complainant approached the court seeking action.

The accused include Pastor Manish R Masih and six office-bearers. Police said a detailed investigation is underway into the allegations.
