Retired IAS officer Dinesh Kumar has assumed charge as chairman of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) constituted by the Andhra Pradesh government to review the salaries of state government employees. He took charge at the state Secretariat on Monday. A 1983-batch IAS officer, Dinesh Kumar previously served as the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh. The government appointed him to head the commission through G.O. Ms. No. 200, issued on October 1, directing him to submit its report within one year.

With the appointment formalised, the commission is expected to begin the process of examining the various aspects of employee remuneration and preparing recommendations for the government's consideration. The exercise will involve gathering relevant information from different government departments and consulting representatives of employees and their unions to understand their concerns and demands.

The commission will undertake a comprehensive assessment of salary-related matters before finalising its recommendations. Information collected from departments will help establish the relevant financial and administrative details, while interactions with employee representatives are expected to provide insights into their expectations regarding the proposed revision.

The government has set a one-year deadline for submitting the report, making the coming months important for completing consultations, examining the available data and preparing the recommendations. The commission's findings will subsequently be submitted to the state government, which will consider them in the process of deciding on salary revisions for its employees.

The appointment comes amid the broader administrative process of reviewing pay structures for government personnel. The commission's recommendations are expected to provide a framework for the government to assess employee salary revision proposals, taking into account the information gathered during its study.

Following Dinesh Kumar's assumption of office, V. Vinay Chand, Secretary of the State Finance Department, and Additional Secretary Gautam Allada met him at the Secretariat and congratulated him by presenting bouquets.

Ram Krishna, president of the State Secretariat Employees' Association, along with representatives of various employee unions, also called on the newly appointed chairman. They presented him with a bouquet and felicitated him with a shawl, extending their greetings as he took charge of the commission.
