
Former minister Ambati Rambabu Judicial Remanded for 14 days
Senior YSR Congress leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu has been placed under 14-day judicial custody by a Guntur mobile court for allegedly making abusive remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu .
The incident began on Friday when Ambati inspected a flex banner at Gorantla, Guntur Road , related to the Tirumala Laddu Prasadam controversy. He reportedly called it a “serious offense” and demanded its removal within 24 hours.
On Saturday morning , after offering prayers at Gorantla Venkateswara Swamy Temple , Ambati was intercepted by TDP workers . According to police reports , he verbally abused the Chief Minister from his car, using offensive language , and the incident was later shared widely on social media , escalating tensions.
During the confrontation, TDP workers allegedly attacked his car , prompting police intervention. Authorities said Ambati ignored police instructions , allegedly damaged his car mirror , and continued to use aggressive language .
Following complaints by Guntur district TDP president Pilli Manikyarao and Nallapadu SI K. Ramakrishna , police filed cases under various sections of the Indian Penal Code , including: 126(2), 132 – obstructing police duties and attempting to remove banners near NTR statue, 196(1), 352, 351(2) – abusive remarks against the Chief Minister and threatening behavior
Ambati was produced before a magistrate on Sunday night , after which the court ordered judicial remand . He was then escorted under police protection to the Central Jail in Rajamahendravaram , where he was formally handed over to jail authorities at 12:30 a.m. on Monday .
