Four Killed, Including Two Children, in Early-Morning Crash on Hyderabad–Vijayawada Highway

A tragic road accident on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway in Telangana's Nalgonda district claimed the lives of four people, including two children , and left another person seriously injured in the early hours of Sunday.

According to police, the accident occurred near Chityal at around 5 a.m. when a private bus travelling from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad crashed into the rear of a car that was carrying five occupants from Chennai to Hyderabad .

The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car extensively damaged. Police said the woman travelling in the car, two children and another passenger died on the spot. The driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Local residents who witnessed the aftermath alerted the police and emergency services. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched relief operations. The injured driver was rescued from the wreckage and taken to hospital, where doctors later stated that his condition was stable .

Authorities said the front portion of the bus was also damaged in the crash. However, no injuries were reported among the passengers travelling on the bus.

The accident caused temporary disruption to traffic on the busy national highway. Police personnel, assisted by cranes and recovery vehicles, cleared the damaged vehicles from the roadway and restored the flow of traffic after several hours.

The bodies of the deceased were shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem examinations . Officials said the victims' family members had been informed about the incident.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary inquiries are examining factors such as vehicle speed, road conditions and driver response before the collision.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety on national highways , particularly during early-morning hours when visibility, fatigue and speeding can increase risks. Officials have urged motorists to follow traffic regulations, maintain safe distances between vehicles and exercise caution while travelling on highways to help prevent similar tragedies.
