
Four Killed, Two Injured After Refrigerator Explosion Triggers Fire in Belagavi
Four members of a family were killed and two others were seriously injured after a refrigerator reportedly exploded inside their house in Belagavi, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Chavat Galli late Monday night, triggering a fire that rapidly engulfed the house and trapped the occupants inside, according to preliminary information.
The deceased have been identified as Gajanan Dhamone (65), Roshan Dhamone (21), Sharada Dhamone (45) and Bharati Dhamone (50), police said.
Two other family members, identified as Priya Dhamone (28) and Ganga Dhamone (25), sustained serious injuries in the incident. They were rescued and shifted to a hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment, officials said.
According to police, the fire reportedly broke out after the refrigerator exploded inside the residence. The flames then spread quickly through the premises, leaving the occupants with little time to escape.
The blaze was reported under the jurisdiction of the Market Police Station. Emergency personnel and police reached the spot after being alerted about the incident.
