India has achieved another significant milestone in its defence manufacturing journey with the flagging off of the 100th indigenous BrahMos booster in Nagpur, underscoring the country's growing capability to produce advanced military systems within its borders.

The landmark achievement was celebrated by BrahMos Aerospace and Solar Industries India Ltd , which have played a key role in localizing the production of one of the most critical components of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile . The development marks a major transition from the past, when missile boosters were imported from Russia, to a system that is increasingly built and sustained by Indian industry.

The progress has been remarkable. Production capacity has expanded from just one booster per month to six every month, reflecting the rapid growth of India's defence manufacturing ecosystem and its ability to support both domestic requirements and future export opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jaiteerth Joshi , Chief Executive Officer of BrahMos Aerospace, praised the contribution of Solar Industries to the programme. He highlighted the company's successful warhead trials and said additional tests would be conducted as part of the effort to achieve full indigenization of the missile system.

The milestone is being viewed as a major boost to the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative , which aims to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers in strategically important sectors. Indigenous production of critical missile components not only strengthens national security but also helps lower costs, reduce import related risks, and improve long term operational readiness.

Beyond strengthening India's defence capabilities, the achievement is expected to enhance the country's standing in the global arms market. The Philippines has already become the first overseas customer for the BrahMos missile system, while potential deals with Vietnam continue to attract attention. Industry observers believe India's growing expertise in missile production could also create new opportunities in international markets in the coming years.

The rollout of the 100th indigenous booster is more than a manufacturing milestone. It symbolizes India's transformation into a nation capable of developing, producing, and exporting world class defence technology , reinforcing its ambition to emerge as a leading hub for advanced defence manufacturing.
