British wild card Arthur Fery produced another stunning performance at Wimbledon, defeating ninth seed Flavio Cobolli 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-0 to reach his maiden Grand Slam semifinal and continue what fans are calling the “Ferytale” at the All England Club. The 23-year-old's remarkable run has not only captivated home fans but has also been seen as a symbol of a broader British tennis resurgence .

Ranked 114th in the world and raised just five minutes from Wimbledon, Fery entered the tournament through a wild-card invitation. He delivered another fearless display on Centre Court before a passionate home crowd and a Royal Box audience that included Queen Camilla. “It gets better and better every match. I just can't believe it,” Fery said after securing the biggest victory of his career.

The home favourite earned a standing ovation after winning the opening set, while the roar that followed his second-set tiebreak victory echoed across the grounds. Fery sealed the memorable triumph with an ace before collapsing onto the court in celebration. “That last game, I felt emotions that I hadn't experienced before in my life,” he said.

His achievement places him alongside Goran Ivanisevic, the only other men's singles wild card to reach the Wimbledon semifinals in the Open Era before going on to win the title in 2001.

Fery's breakthrough comes at an important time for British tennis. Since the Wimbledon triumphs of Andy Murray in 2013 and 2016, Britain has searched for a new standard-bearer capable of making deep runs at Grand Slam events. While players such as Jack Draper, Cameron Norrie and Emma Raducanu have achieved notable success, Fery's Wimbledon campaign has added another exciting name to the country's emerging generation.

His rise also reflects years of investment by the Lawn Tennis Association in player development and elite coaching pathways. A former standout college player in the United States, Fery steadily climbed through the professional ranks before seizing his opportunity on home soil.

Fery will next face third seed Alexander Zverev in Friday's semifinal after the German defeated Taylor Fritz in straight sets. The other semifinal will feature seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic against defending champion Jannik Sinner.

Regardless of the outcome, Fery has already become one of the defining stories of Wimbledon 2026 , offering British tennis fresh hope for the future.
