Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has reached a significant milestone in his public life, completing 20 years as an elected representative . The occasion marks two decades since his first electoral victory on July 4, 2006, when he entered public office through local body elections in the then undivided Mahabubnagar district.

While Revanth Reddy's political journey began during his student days with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) , his entry into electoral politics came as an independent candidate. In 2006, he won as a Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member from Midjil, laying the foundation for a political career that would eventually take him to the state's highest office.

Building on his growing popularity and assertive political style, he secured another victory in 2007, again as an independent candidate, when he was elected to the Legislative Council. During his tenure as an MLC, he joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and emerged as one of its prominent leaders under the leadership of N. Chandrababu Naidu .

Revanth Reddy went on to win the Kodangal Assembly constituency in both the 2009 and 2014 elections. Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, he also served as the working president of the TDP's Telangana unit.

As the party's influence declined in Telangana, he switched to the Congress in 2017 and quickly became one of the party's most visible faces in the state. His aggressive campaign against the then ruling BRS government and former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao helped strengthen the Congress organisation on the ground.

The 2018 Assembly election in Kodangal resulted in the only electoral defeat of his political career. However, he staged a swift comeback by winning the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 parliamentary elections.

Recognising his organisational and leadership abilities, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) appointed him as the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee in 2021. Under his leadership, the Congress secured a decisive victory in the 2023 Assembly elections, paving the way for him to take oath as Telangana's second Chief Minister on December 7, 2023.

Marking the completion of two decades in public life, the 56-year-old leader expressed gratitude to supporters, party workers, friends and well-wishers through a post on social media platform X. Reflecting on his journey from Midjil to becoming a leader known across Telangana, he described the past 20 years as a memorable chapter of his life and pledged to continue working for the state's development and fulfil the aspirations of its people.

Several political leaders extended their congratulations on the occasion, including Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha , who joined others in acknowledging Revanth Reddy's two-decade journey in electoral politics.
