Gaddam Vamshikrishna Slams Pawan Kalyan, Nara Lokesh Over Silence On Telugu Sailor’s Death

Congress MP from Peddapalli, Gaddam Vamshikrishna has launched a sharp attack on Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, accusing them of maintaining silence over the death of a Telugu sailor in a reported US military strike on a commercial vessel near the Oman coast.

In a post on social media platform X, the MP questioned why the two leaders had not issued even a basic response or condolence over the incident, in which a seafarer from Visakhapatnam reportedly lost his life while working on a commercial ship. He alleged that their silence reflected a preference for political survival over public responsibility .

Vamshikrishna said it was deeply unfortunate that elected representatives failed to respond when an Indian citizen dies under such circumstances abroad. He added that this lack of reaction was being closely watched by the public and could have political consequences .

He further alleged that some leaders were instead engaged in “irrelevant discussions” during visits to New Delhi, including comments around Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which he said distracted from urgent public issues.

The MP also referred to earlier political developments, saying that while opposition leaders had at times acknowledged national security operations, accountability cannot be selective when Indian lives are involved. He argued that repeated silence from ruling alliance leaders in Andhra Pradesh raises questions about their commitment to citizens’ welfare .

He criticised what he described as a tendency among leaders to avoid difficult questions during sensitive incidents affecting Indians, especially Telugu-speaking citizens. According to him, this reflects a widening gap between public representatives and ground realities .

The remarks have further intensified political exchanges in Andhra Pradesh, where opposition leaders continue to target the ruling coalition over issues of governance and accountability .
