GHMC Commissioner Inspects Sanitation, Civic Services Across Hyderabad
GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan has intensified the focus on sanitation and civic service management in Hyderabad, conducting field inspections at several important stretches of the city along with Additional Commissioner Ravi Kiran. The inspection covered key locations including Mehdipatnam, Ameerpet Road, Raj Bhavan Road, KBR Park–MLA Quarters Road and the Khairatabad flyover area.
During the inspection, Karnan reviewed the condition of roads and footpaths and took stock of ongoing sweeping and garbage removal operations. He also examined the maintenance of open spaces and other civic activities being carried out in the areas. The inspection was aimed at assessing whether sanitation personnel and resources were being effectively deployed, particularly in locations that experience heavy movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
The Commissioner directed officials to ensure that high-traffic areas are cleaned thoroughly every day and that sanitation operations are carried out without delays. He stressed the importance of removing accumulated waste promptly so that garbage does not obstruct roads or footpaths or cause inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians.
Karnan also called for closer supervision of sanitation activities at the field level. Deputy Commissioners, Deputy Executive Engineers and Assistant Engineers were instructed to regularly monitor the deployment of sanitation workers and the utilisation of sanitation vehicles in their respective areas. Officials were told to ensure that available manpower and vehicles are being used efficiently to maintain cleanliness across the city.
The Commissioner further instructed field-level officials to respond immediately to any shortcomings identified during inspections. Rather than allowing sanitation-related issues to persist, corrective measures should be initiated at the earliest, he said.
He also emphasised the need to maintain continuous sanitation on major roads and in public spaces across Hyderabad. The officials were directed to ensure that cleanliness is not limited to periodic drives but remains a regular part of civic maintenance.
The inspection comes as the GHMC continues to focus on improving day-to-day civic services and maintaining cleaner public spaces. The Commissioner’s directions placed particular emphasis on regular monitoring, timely garbage clearance and effective deployment of sanitation resources to ensure that key city stretches remain clean and accessible to the public.
