GHMC Standing Committee Approves Major Infrastructure and Digital Governance Projects in Hyderabad

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee has approved a series of key proposals aimed at accelerating urban infrastructure, sanitation, digital transformation, and civic development across Hyderabad.

The 6th General Meeting of the GHMC Standing Committee, held on July 25, 2026, was chaired by Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department. The meeting was attended by GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, additional commissioners, zonal commissioners, and heads of various departments, who reviewed proposals relating to infrastructure, public services, and governance.

Among the major approvals, the committee cleared the modernization of the GouliPura Small Animal Slaughterhouse, the construction of the Sanjeevaiah Park Road Over Bridge (ROB), and a two-way flyover at Rasoolpura to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion. It also approved the construction of cement concrete (CC) roads in Haider Shahkot and bituminous (BT) roads in Badangpet to strengthen local road infrastructure.

The committee further gave its nod to proposals for the expansion of missing-link roads in Kismatpur, Bandlaguda Jagir, and Shamshabad, including land acquisition wherever required. These projects are expected to enhance road connectivity and support the city's growing transportation needs.

On the sanitation front, the committee approved the appointment of a Knowledge Partner under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 to strengthen cleanliness initiatives. It also sanctioned the implementation of the "Well-Being Out of Waste" programme in schools in collaboration with ITC, promoting waste management awareness and sustainable environmental practices among students.

As part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the committee approved the maintenance of parks in Jubilee Hills. It also cleared the migration of GHMC's digital applications to Microsoft Azure Cloud, a step aimed at improving the corporation's digital infrastructure, data security, and service delivery.

To enhance operational efficiency and workforce monitoring, the Standing Committee approved the introduction of a mobile-based facial recognition biometric attendance system for sanitation and pest control workers.

In addition, the committee recommended several other proposals requiring approval from the GHMC General Body for further consideration. Reaffirming its commitment to Hyderabad's planned urban growth, the committee said the approved initiatives would help strengthen civic infrastructure, improve municipal services, and promote technology-driven governance across the city.
