Golf’s Big Weekend: Brennan Wins Wyndham as Niemann Secures 9th LIV Victory

Michael Brennan produced a stunning closing burst to win the Wyndham Championship, while Joaquin Niemann continued his remarkable run on LIV Golf with his ninth career victory in the last three years.

Brennan fired a 6-under 64, making five straight birdies to pull away from Beau Hossler and finish at 22-under 258. The victory marked his second PGA Tour title in two years and dramatically changed his postseason fortunes.

Entering the final regular-season event ranked No. 105 in the FedEx Cup standings, Brennan surged to No. 47, earning a place in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which begin Thursday with the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. Only the top 70 players qualified.

His winning total also matched the tournament record at Sedgefield Country Club, previously achieved three times, most recently by Cameron Young last year.

Jackson Koivun, who left Auburn in June after winning the 3M Open in only his third start, narrowly secured the final playoff spot at No. 70. Ben James, already assured of a PGA Tour card for 2027, bounced back from Saturday's setback with a brilliant 61 to finish third.

On the LIV Golf circuit, Niemann closed with a 2-under 69 for a three-shot victory at LIV Golf New York. He finished at 16-under 268 after going wire-to-wire at Trump International.

Harold Varner III finished second after briefly catching Niemann, but the Chilean pulled away with a birdie on the 13th and an eagle on the par-5 15th.

Jon Rahm shot 76 but still secured the LIV Golf season points title for the third consecutive year. Bryson DeChambeau tied for 38th and cannot overtake Rahm with one tournament remaining.

Elsewhere, 17-year-old Asterisk Talley won the U.S. Women's Amateur, defeating Japan's Anna Iwanaga 8-and-6.
