Good Deeds Outlive Wealth and Power, Says Harish Rao
Former Telangana minister and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao said that wealth, positions and personal achievements are temporary, while acts of service and compassion leave a lasting legacy in society. He made these remarks while participating in the 'Gift of Life' programme at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Kondapak, Siddipet district, along with actor Vijay Deverakonda .
Addressing the gathering, Harish Rao praised the hospital's doctors, medical staff and volunteers for their commitment to providing life-saving treatment to children suffering from heart ailments. He said the institution has become a beacon of hope for thousands of families and credited its founder, Srinivas , for building a healthcare model centred on service and compassion. Describing his contribution as extraordinary, Harish Rao said the hospital's work has transformed the lives of countless children.
He noted that the hospital provides free cardiac surgeries and medical treatment to nearly 6,000 children every year , which he described as a remarkable achievement. Maintaining such a large-scale service initiative through personal commitment and perseverance is no ordinary task, he said, adding that the endeavour reflects both dedication and the blessings associated with the ideals of Sri Sathya Sai Baba .
The former minister pointed out that children from Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and several other states travel to the hospital for treatment and return home healthy. The happiness and relief seen on the faces of parents after successful surgeries, he said, are the strongest proof of the institution's impact on society.
Harish Rao also observed that the hospital maintains high standards of cleanliness, patient care and medical services comparable to leading corporate healthcare facilities. He said the atmosphere of warmth and compassion provided to patients and their families distinguishes the institution.
Calling on citizens to embrace a spirit of service, he urged people not to wait for others to act but to contribute in whatever way possible to support those in need. Recalling that this was his fourth visit to the hospital, he said seeing children recover and return to normal life always brings immense satisfaction.
Emphasising that people are remembered for their contributions rather than their wealth or positions, Harish Rao announced that he would donate one year's salary to the Sri Sathya Sai Trust , reaffirming his support for the hospital's humanitarian mission.
