
Gujarat DGP K L N Rao Honours Surat Jail Inmates for Passing Class 10, 12 Board Exams
Gujarat Director General of Police (CID Crime and Prisons) K L N Rao on Thursday honoured inmates of Surat's Lajpore Central Jail who successfully cleared the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations , praising their determination and describing education as the greatest means of improving life .
During his visit, Rao conducted a comprehensive review of the jail's administration, security arrangements, and inmate welfare initiatives. He also held a meeting with prison officers and staff to assess the functioning of the facility and suggested measures to make administrative processes more robust and efficient.
The senior IPS officer inspected various sections of the prison, reviewing facilities available to inmates, including educational and rehabilitation programmes aimed at supporting their personal development and reintegration into society.
In recognition of their academic achievement, Rao presented certificates to prisoners who passed the board examinations through dedicated study and a positive attitude during their incarceration.
Addressing the inmates, he emphasized that education plays a transformative role in rebuilding lives and encouraged them to continue pursuing constructive paths. He urged the prisoners to use the opportunities available in prison to improve themselves and reintegrate into society with dignity after completing their sentences.
The visit highlighted the Gujarat prison administration's continued focus on education, rehabilitation, and skill development as key pillars of inmate reform and successful social reintegration.
