Gujarat Expands International Partnerships Before Global Summit 2027
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday held separate high-level meetings with representatives from Ukraine and Russia , signaling the state's growing role in international economic diplomacy as it prepares for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027 . The discussions took place on the sidelines of the 4th Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) , a key outreach initiative aimed at attracting global investment and fostering strategic partnerships across sectors.
During his meeting with Ukraine's Ambassador to India, Oleksandr Polishchuk , Patel invited Ukrainian industries to collaborate with Gujarat and explore investment opportunities in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, agriculture, renewable energy, and green hydrogen . The Chief Minister highlighted Gujarat's strong industrial ecosystem and thanked Ukraine for participating in all four editions of the VGRC. The discussions assume significance as Ukraine seeks international partners for economic recovery and reconstruction, creating opportunities for collaboration with Gujarat's globally competitive manufacturing and clean energy sectors.
In a separate meeting, Patel met a delegation from the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in India , led by Zlata Antusheva . The talks focused on strengthening cooperation in transportation, smart city development, payment systems, MSMEs, fertilizers, and rupee-based financial transactions . Discussions also involved Russian companies such as Archem , a specialty chemicals producer, and EuroChem , one of the world's leading fertilizer manufacturers.
The emphasis on local-currency trade mechanisms reflects the broader trend in India-Russia economic relations, with both countries exploring alternatives to conventional dollar-based transactions. Gujarat's extensive port infrastructure, industrial corridors, petrochemical complexes, and logistics network make it a natural destination for Russian investments and trade partnerships.
The back-to-back engagements with Ukrainian and Russian representatives underscore Gujarat's pragmatic approach to international cooperation. Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions between the two nations, the state has focused on expanding economic partnerships that can contribute to industrial growth, technology transfer, and job creation.
Speaking at the conference, Bhupendra Patel said Gujarat has prepared a comprehensive roadmap for "Viksit Gujarat" in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Viksit Bharat 2047." He noted that the Vibrant Gujarat initiative, launched in 2003, has evolved into a globally recognized investment platform, with an implementation rate of 70 to 90 percent for MoUs signed during previous summits.
As Gujarat intensifies preparations for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027 , the meetings with Ukraine and Russia highlight the state's ambition to emerge as a leading hub for global investment, innovation, and sustainable industrial development.
