Gunshots Fired at Pune Industrial Unit After Businessman Gets Threat Call
A Pune-based businessman allegedly received an extortion threat from a person claiming to be associated with the Bishnoi gang , while unidentified assailants later opened fire at his industrial establishment, prompting a police investigation into a possible organised crime angle.
According to police, Amol Rajendra Chamdai , who operates a steel products business in Pune, received a phone call at around 4.30 pm on Monday from an individual identifying himself as "Arzu Bishnoi." The caller allegedly demanded money and threatened the businessman.
Following the call, Chamdai approached the Wanwadi police , but the matter was subsequently referred to the Fursungi Police Station as it fell under its jurisdiction.
In a dramatic turn of events, while the businessman was present at the police station to pursue the complaint, four rounds were allegedly fired at his industrial establishment in the Fursungi area at around 8.10 pm . No injuries were reported in the incident, police said.
Investigators are examining whether the firing was intended as a warning linked to the alleged extortion demand. The sequence of events has raised concerns about a possible organised crime connection , although officials said it is too early to confirm the involvement of any gang.
Police have launched a detailed probe to identify the individuals behind the extortion call and the firing incident. CCTV footage from the area is being examined, and forensic teams are expected to assist in the investigation.
An FIR has been registered against unidentified persons , and authorities are working to establish whether the caller was genuinely linked to the Bishnoi gang or merely used the gang's name to intimidate the businessman.
Officials said all angles, including extortion, criminal intimidation, and organised crime links, are being investigated. Further details are awaited as the probe progresses.
