Gurugram CEO Says US Visa Rejected Over ‘Weak Ties to India’

A Gurugram-based CEO has claimed that his US visa application was rejected, with officials citing “weak ties to India” and questioning whether his intended activities matched the visa category for which he had applied.

CEO Jasveer Singh said in a post on X that despite running a company in India, employing a local workforce, paying taxes and building his professional life in the country over the past 13 years, the US authorities deemed it “not enough proof that I’ll return to India.”

Singh shared what appeared to be an official letter from the United States Embassy in New Delhi stating that he was found ineligible for a non-immigrant visa under US immigration law . The letter said he “was not able to demonstrate that your intended activities in the United States would be consistent with the classification of the non-immigrant visa for which you applied.”

It further noted that applicants must establish strong professional, financial, social or family ties to their home country to qualify for a non-immigrant visa.

In his post, Singh criticised the visa evaluation process, tagging @USAmbIndia and alleging inconsistencies in the assessment. He also claimed that social media activity is now being checked during visa evaluations, quoting a friend as suggesting that deleting tweets about the US and NRIs could improve approval chances.

There was no immediate response from the US Embassy regarding Singh’s claims.
