The Gurugram Police has intensified its ongoing illegal immigration enforcement drive , confirming that deportation proceedings have officially begun against 13 Bangladeshi nationals detained during a recent city-wide verification operation.

Officials said the group was identified during a special intelligence-based verification drive conducted by the Crime Branch Sector-39 under DCP (Crime) Hitesh Yadav. The operation covered construction sites, slum clusters, rented accommodations, industrial zones, and labour settlements across the city.

During checks, police verified identity documents and found the individuals allegedly possessed Bangladeshi papers and were unable to produce valid proof of legal stay in India. According to investigators, they were working as daily wage labourers while residing in Gurugram.

Preliminary findings suggest the group allegedly entered India through the Kaliaganj border in West Bengal with assistance from cross-border agents before travelling to Haryana in search of work. Officials also said some of the individuals were linked to Bangladeshi phone numbers during interrogation.

Police have shifted the detained persons to a holding facility in Manesar , where legal formalities for deportation are being completed. Authorities clarified that deportation will be carried out strictly under due process.

As part of the wider exercise, officials said nearly 900 individuals were screened across multiple locations, including Sohna and Manesar, as part of an expanded verification campaign targeting undocumented foreign nationals.

The Gurugram Police stated that the drive will continue and urged citizens, employers, and RWAs to ensure tenant verification and report suspicious cases. They also warned against misinformation, stressing that legally residing foreigners and Indian citizens will not be harassed during the operation.
