At least 13 people were killed and 92 others injured in a wave of shootings across the United States during Halloween weekend, with gun violence disrupting celebrations, college parties, football events and nightlife gatherings in several states, according to a preliminary CNN tally published on Monday.

The Associated Press initially reported at least six deaths and dozens of injuries across several cities. However, a broader assessment by CNN, based partly on figures from the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive, identified at least 13 fatalities and 92 injuries. The tally is preliminary and not exhaustive.

Dallas, Texas, witnessed the deadliest violence, with four people killed and 15 injured in three separate shootings in the Deep Ellum entertainment district. The shootings occurred at approximately 12:20 am on Elm Street, 1:05 am on Main Street and 1:35 am on South Crowdus Street on Sunday. Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said investigators had no evidence linking the three incidents. Some arrests were made, while officers continued searching for additional suspects and reviewing surveillance footage.

In Birmingham, Alabama, one person was killed and eight injured in shootings near Legion Field following the annual Magic City Classic football game between Alabama State and Alabama A&M universities. Nearly 70,000 fans attended the match. A 17-year-old was taken into custody, and authorities said he was carrying a firearm fitted with a conversion switch.

Delaware witnessed two mass shootings within just over an hour. Nine people were shot at an outdoor party in Ellendale, including a 17-year-old girl who later died. Another six people were wounded near the University of Delaware campus in Newark.

In Bloomington, Illinois, a shooting near Illinois Wesleyan University killed a 19-year-old woman and left another woman critically injured. Six others also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, seven people were wounded in a separate shooting in Bloomington, Indiana. In Fayetteville, Arkansas, six people were hospitalized after gunfire erupted following an altercation near the University of Arkansas.

The violence also spread to other states. In Jackson, Mississippi, two people were killed and four injured after masked gunmen opened fire inside a nightclub hosting a costume party. In Jacksonville, Florida, two separate Halloween party shootings killed two people, including a 17-year-old girl, and injured 11 others. Seven people were also wounded at a Halloween birthday party near Edinburg, Texas, while a Wichita, Kansas, shooting injured four.

The violence began even before Halloween night. In Fairfield, California, a targeted shooting inside a Spirit Halloween store killed 31-year-old Constance Hages, who family members said was pregnant, and wounded six others, including three critically. In Flint, Michigan, a woman was killed and three others injured at a party. Separately, a 21-year-old man was fatally shot at another Spirit Halloween store in Madison Heights, Michigan.

Delaware Governor Matt Meyer condemned the violence, saying, "This is not normal," and added that gun violence must never be accepted as part of everyday life.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, the United States has recorded nearly 400 mass shootings so far this year, averaging more than one a day.
