Kashmiri students studying at the Government Nursing College in Kurnool have raised alarming allegations of discrimination and harassment , prompting a complaint to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) claims that college authorities and hostel staff are subjecting students to mental stress and called for an immediate investigation , with strict action against those responsible.

The majority of the affected students are young women admitted under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme. JKSA highlighted that during Ramadan , the college failed to provide even basic support for students observing fasts. Allegedly, arrangements for pre-dawn ‘Sehri’ and evening ‘Iftar’ meals were denied, and students were prevented from bringing food from outside.

The complaint also alleges instances of religious insensitivity and verbal abuse. Some students reportedly faced derogatory remarks, including being called “ terrorists ” and questioned for choosing a college in Andhra Pradesh despite their faith. Restrictions on wearing hijabs and threats of hostel expulsion for raising concerns were also cited.

JKSA expressed deep concern that these incidents are causing severe anxiety, adversely affecting students’ academic performance , and violating their fundamental rights under Articles 15 and 25 of the Indian Constitution. The association described such incidents as deeply concerning in a state renowned for its social harmony and educational progress.

The association urged Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to take prompt action to ensure justice , provide proper meal facilities, and protect students from religious harassment. JKSA emphasized that safeguarding the dignity, safety, and educational future of students is a responsibility that rests squarely with the government.
