Harish Rao Dares Revanth to Come Clean on Krishna Water and Palamuru Progress
Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao has launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of a fundamental lack of understanding of how Krishna river water has been utilized under his own government, a gap he called not just an embarrassment but a genuine threat to Telangana's long-term water rights .
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Harish Rao pointed to an official letter dated May 2, 2026, written by Telangana's Engineer-in-Chief General to the Krishna River Management Board. The letter reveals a striking imbalance: Andhra Pradesh has drawn 74.23% of Krishna water allocations , while Telangana has managed to use only 25.77% . "I don't make claims without documents," Harish Rao said pointedly, drawing an implicit contrast with the Chief Minister's statements. He also turned his fire on Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, questioning whether either the CM or his minister had even read the official correspondence their own government had authored.
The criticism sharpened considerably when Harish Rao addressed the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project , a scheme designed to deliver water to 12.30 lakh acres of farmland and drinking water to 1,226 villages across the historically parched Palamuru region. Despite Revanth Reddy frequently invoking his Palamuru identity, Harish Rao argued that the CM's two-and-a-half years in office have produced nothing of substance for the region. He further reminded voters that it was the Congress party, with Revanth Reddy's backing, that had previously filed cases to stall work on this very project, while the BRS government fought those legal battles and kept construction moving.
On the question of land acquisition, Harish Rao was equally blunt. He stated that the previous BRS administration acquired 27,191 acres of land for irrigation projects, navigating considerable legal and logistical resistance to do so. He challenged the current government to publicly declare how many acres it has acquired in the same timeframe. With half its term already spent, he said, the Congress government's sudden talk of land acquisition proposals rings hollow .
Harish Rao wrapped up his broadside with a defense of former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao's irrigation record in Palamuru, a constituency that was for decades synonymous with drought-driven migration under both Congress and TDP rule. He credited KCR with bringing water to 10 lakh acres , expanding the coverage of projects like Kalwakurthy, Bheema, Nettampadu, and Koyil Sagar from a mere 27,000 acres to 6.5 lakh acres .
His closing message was direct: a Chief Minister who hasn't moved a single truckload of soil in 30 months should stop hiding behind falsehoods and start engaging with the facts on the ground.
