Former minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao visited the families of two migrant labourers from Induvasi village in Jogulamba Gadwal district who died in a road accident in Karnataka’s Yadgir district. He also met the injured workers and enquired about their health. Acting on the directions of BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao, he extended immediate financial assistance to the affected families on behalf of the party. Harish Rao demanded that the state government announce ₹10 lakh compensation for each deceased worker’s family and provide financial assistance and better medical care to those injured.

Harish Rao blamed the Congress government for the renewed migration of workers from the Palamuru region, alleging that administrative failures had pushed poor families into distress. He pointed out that around 40 Scheduled Caste families from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s home district had migrated in search of livelihood and subsequently faced the tragedy. He questioned why the Chief Minister, the district collector and the two ministers representing the district had allegedly failed to visit the affected families.

Describing the situation as a crisis created by governance failures rather than natural drought, Harish Rao alleged that inadequate power supply and the failure to operate irrigation motors had left crops drying up despite water availability in the Srisailam reservoir. According to him, the resulting agricultural distress had once again forced labourers to leave their villages for work.

Recalling the previous BRS government’s achievements, he claimed that irrigation projects had been completed, water supplied to 10 lakh acres and 24-hour electricity provided to farmers. He also criticised the present government over Government Order No. 17, alleging that it restricted the provision of free electricity to farmers.

The BRS leader questioned the government’s failure to distribute the annual ₹12,000 Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa assistance intended for agricultural labourers. He argued that timely financial support could have helped vulnerable families avoid migration.

Harish Rao further accused the government of prioritising spending on contractors, Future City and the Musi project over the needs of poor workers. He also condemned the reported handcuffing of farmers in Kodangal and the filing of cases against farmers protesting water shortages in Makthal. He alleged that the government had failed to safeguard Telangana’s interests in the allocation of Krishna river waters, urging it to address farmers’ hardships and prevent further distress-driven migration.
