Harry Kane produced a landmark performance on Friday, scoring twice as Bayern Munich thrashed Union Berlin 7-0 to become the fastest player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals.

The England striker reached the milestone in just 99 appearances, breaking the previous record of 123 games set by former Cologne striker Dieter Müller in the 1970s. Kane converted a 39th-minute penalty to take his tally to 100 before scoring again in the 54th minute, taking his total to 101 Bundesliga goals.

Jamal Musiala opened the scoring in the 18th minute, while Michael Olise added another before halftime. Olise then completed his hat-trick with goals in the 73rd and 76th minutes, while Ismael Saibari also found the net as Bayern completed a dominant victory.

Kane, 33, has been remarkably prolific since joining Bayern in 2023, scoring once every 78.3 minutes in the Bundesliga. That rate is better than those of Erling Haaland, Robert Lewandowski and Gerd Müller. “Very proud, to be honest, to reach 100 goals in the Bundesliga,” Kane said.

The victory also strengthened Bayern’s position at the top of the Bundesliga. The defending champions now have 10 points from four matches, one ahead of Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund, who have a game in hand.

In England, Chelsea suffered a 3-0 defeat against Brentford, with Jaidon Anthony, Igor Thiago and Fabio Carvalho scoring in the second half. Brentford moved third with nine points from five games.

In France, Monaco stayed unbeaten at the top of Ligue 1 with a 2-1 win over Lens, while Monza secured its first Serie A victory by beating Sassuolo 2-1. In Spain, Elche defeated Espanyol 3-1 despite Federico Redondo’s early sending-off, climbing off the bottom of the table.
