Haryana Police’s Special Task Force (STF) has arrested 145 criminals, including 71 gang members and 22 individuals with cash rewards on their heads, during intelligence-based operations in January and February, officials said on Monday. The drive aims to dismantle organised crime syndicates across the state.

In a major operation, the STF foiled a planned explosion in Ambala after intercepting a conspiracy to detonate a car inside Baldev Nagar police station. Seven accused linked to the plot have been arrested. Intelligence indicated possible involvement of Pakistan-linked elements , highlighting the severity of the threat.

Director General of Police Ajay Singhal said the operations reflect a zero-tolerance policy under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The STF is strengthening its intelligence networks, using modern technology, and coordinating with inter-state and international agencies to disrupt criminal activities.

The STF also conducted high-profile arrests, including four accused involved in a firing at a Mumbai film producer’s residence, later handed to the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Extortion Cell. In Karnal, four gang members were arrested, with foreign-made pistols and a bulletproof vehicle recovered. Investigations revealed links to murder and extortion conspiracies in India and abroad.

In February, two Pakistani nationals were arrested at Ambala Cantt railway station after escaping from RS Pura Juvenile Jail. Three others involved in a firing at a Gurugram showroom were also taken into custody, with pistols, magazines, and live cartridges seized.

Overall, STF teams recovered 22 branded pistols, nine country-made pistols, two magazines, and 65 live cartridges, while five criminals were injured in four encounter incidents . Officials said these operations demonstrate a proactive approach to ensure law and order and dismantle entrenched criminal networks in Haryana.
