
Haryana to Launch AI Sandbox, Set Up State Data Centre Under ₹474-Crore Plan
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced that the state will launch an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Sandbox and establish its own AI state data centre as part of the Haryana AI Development Programme , which carries an investment of ₹474 crore .
Reviewing the progress of the Haryana AI Development Project and the Haryana Clean Air Project, Saini said the initiatives are aimed at improving public services while strengthening the state's digital and environmental infrastructure.
Under the AI programme, a state AI data centre will be set up in Panchkula , while the Global Artificial Intelligence Centre (GAIC) will be established in Gurugram . The government also plans to create a Haryana Data Exchange , a State Data Lake Platform , and introduce a Haryana Data Exchange Policy to enhance data management and service delivery.
To build a skilled workforce, the state will establish two Centres of Excellence at a cost of ₹40 crore for skill-based courses and industry-oriented workshops. An AI Gurukul will also be launched to provide AI education to children and improve their future employability.
Saini said an Arjun Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be constituted for project implementation, with review meetings scheduled every three months to ensure timely execution.
The chief minister also reviewed the ₹3,647-crore Haryana Clean Air Project , which will be implemented jointly by nine departments. Key measures include the deployment of 500 electric buses in Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat and Jhajjar, establishment of around 200 EV charging stations , incentives for electric three-wheelers, cleaner industrial practices, and measures to curb stubble burning.
Senior officials, including Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar and Principal Secretary Arun Gupta, attended the review meeting.
