HC Dismisses PIL Against Mega DSC, Clearing Way for Appointments

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the state's Mega DSC teacher recruitment process, clearing the way for the government to proceed with appointments. The ruling is expected to bring relief to thousands of successful candidates awaiting posting orders and remove the uncertainty surrounding one of the state's largest teacher recruitment drives.

Welcoming the verdict, Roads & Buildings Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy said the court's decision reaffirmed the government's commitment to a fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment process. He maintained that every objection submitted by candidates was thoroughly examined before the final results were declared, ensuring that the selection process complied with prescribed norms.

The minister alleged that leaders of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) had approached the court with the sole intention of delaying the recruitment process and creating confusion among job aspirants. He criticised the opposition for using litigation as a political tool, arguing that such efforts only prolonged uncertainty for unemployed youth hoping to secure government teaching positions.

Janardhan Reddy also highlighted the coalition government's broader employment agenda, noting that it had issued a Job Calendar covering 10,060 government vacancies, with recruitments planned in four phases. He said the administration was committed to expanding employment opportunities while strengthening public institutions.

Referring to reforms in the education sector, the minister said Education Minister Nara Lokesh was spearheading initiatives to improve the quality of schooling and address long-pending teacher vacancies. He accused the opposition of undermining the aspirations of nearly 16,000 candidates selected through the Mega DSC by repeatedly questioning the integrity of the recruitment exercise.

Inviting the YSRCP to a public debate if it possessed evidence of irregularities, Janardhan Reddy urged unemployed youth not to be swayed by misinformation on social media. He reiterated that the government would continue to prioritise transparent recruitment, educational reforms and job creation, adding that the High Court's verdict had strengthened public confidence in the recruitment process and paved the way for timely appointments.
