He Was Meant For Something Bigger: Samantha Hails Vijay’s Rise From Superstar To CM
Samantha Ruth Prabhu has expressed admiration for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay , describing his transition from cinema to politics as a natural extension of his public connect and influence, which she said always hinted at a larger calling beyond films.
Samantha recently met Vijay in Chennai and shared a photograph from their interaction, saying she felt an “immense sense of happiness” during the visit. The meeting comes shortly after Vijay’s landmark political journey, in which his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as a dominant force in Tamil Nadu politics.
In her note, she wrote that she has always felt that “Vijay sir was never meant to be just a hero on screen,” adding that his energy, charisma and the way audiences respond to him clearly showed a different destiny awaiting him.
Samantha praised his decision to move from a highly successful film career into politics, calling it a courageous step that involves leaving behind comfort and mastery to enter a space with far higher responsibility and stakes.
She also reflected on the broader idea of leadership, saying that while many are called to serve society, only a few actually respond. Vijay’s journey, she added, stands as an example of that rare willingness to step forward.
Her comments come in the backdrop of Vijay’s rapid political ascent, including a strong electoral mandate and the formation of a new government in Tamil Nadu under his leadership earlier this year.
Samantha further said she believes Vijay’s leadership will continue to evolve and may surprise even his strongest supporters, not because of position, but because of intent and purpose.
She also encouraged young people to see his journey as a reminder that life can expand beyond its original dreams, urging them to think bigger than conventional paths.
On the professional front, Samantha is currently promoting her upcoming film “Maa Inti Bangaaram,” which is scheduled for theatrical release this week.
