Hero MotoCorp Expands AP Presence with ₹3,200-Crore Growth Plan
In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s industrial growth and its vision of becoming a hub for electric mobility and green energy , Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for Hero MotoCorp’s Global Parts Centre (GPC) 2.0 at Madanapalem in Satyavedu, Tirupati district. The project was launched alongside Hero MotoCorp Executive Chairman Pawan Munjal , marking another milestone in the company’s expanding footprint in the state.
Being developed with an initial investment of ₹750 crore , the facility forms part of Hero MotoCorp’s broader ₹3,200-crore expansion plan in Andhra Pradesh. The project is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities while strengthening the state’s position as a leading destination for automotive manufacturing, logistics and electric vehicle production.
Addressing the gathering, Chandrababu Naidu said the future of transportation belongs to electric vehicles (EVs) and emphasized that Andhra Pradesh is committed to emerging as a major automobile and clean-energy hub . He paid tribute to the late Dr. Brij Mohan Lall Munjal , founder of Hero MotoCorp, describing him as a visionary entrepreneur who played a pivotal role in shaping India’s manufacturing landscape.
Recalling the company’s journey in the state, Naidu said Hero MotoCorp had once considered establishing its facility elsewhere, but Andhra Pradesh successfully attracted the investment through proactive policy support and infrastructure development. The Tirupati plant, whose foundation stone was laid in 2018, has since grown into a key manufacturing centre and now produces advanced electric scooters under the ‘Vida’ brand , Hero’s flagship EV platform.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s “Speed of Doing Business” approach, under which industries are provided fast-track clearances and world-class infrastructure. He assured investors of seamless road, rail, air and port connectivity , along with reliable water and power supply to support industrial expansion.
On renewable energy, Naidu revealed that Andhra Pradesh has drawn up plans for 160 GW of renewable energy capacity , with agreements already signed for nearly 100 GW . He also outlined plans to attract major technology investments, including data centres in Visakhapatnam and the development of Amaravati as a quantum computing hub .
Focusing on balanced regional development, the Chief Minister announced that the long-awaited Rayalaseema Steel Plant in Kadapa would be launched on July 3 and is expected to begin production by 2028 . He also highlighted the commencement of mining operations at the Jonnagiri Gold Fields , calling it another step toward accelerating industrial growth in Rayalaseema.
Naidu further underlined the government's P4 development model , aimed at ensuring that economic prosperity reaches the poorest sections of society. He reiterated the vision of creating “One Family, One Entrepreneur” and praised the growing participation of women in industry and entrepreneurship.
Commending Hero MotoCorp’s commitment to social responsibility, he noted that women account for more than 40 percent of the workforce at the facility. He also welcomed the company’s initiative to provide free electric two-wheelers to women police personnel in Tirupati .
During the event, the Chief Minister unveiled the “Dr. Brij Mohan Lall Munjal – Heroes of Tomorrow” Scholarship Programme , launched in partnership with the Swarna Andhra Foundation to support deserving students. Later, Naidu toured the plant, interacted with employees and reviewed Hero MotoCorp’s latest mobility innovations, including a newly designed “Scooty-cum-Auto” concept vehicle, which he described as a promising solution for future transportation needs.
