Himachal CM Announces ₹8.5 Lakh Aid for Boh Valley Cloudburst-Affected Families

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday visited the cloudburst-affected Boh Valley in Kangra district and reviewed ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations.

During his visit, Sukhu inspected the relief camp set up at the Government Senior Secondary School, Boh, and interacted with families affected by the disaster. He announced that families whose houses have been completely destroyed will receive ₹8.5 lakh in assistance, comprising ₹7.5 lakh for the construction of new houses and ₹1 lakh for purchasing clothes, utensils and other essential household items.

The Chief Minister said families without land to rebuild their homes would be provided government land wherever required. He also announced ₹55,000 compensation for each cow or buffalo lost in the disaster and ₹15,000 for every goat that perished.

Families whose houses were damaged due to flooding or water ingress will receive ₹1 lakh in relief, while owners of damaged shops will be given between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh, depending on the extent of damage.

Farmers whose crops were destroyed will be compensated at the rate of ₹5,000 per kanal, Sukhu said. Families forced to shift to rented accommodation temporarily will receive ₹5,000 per month as rental assistance.

In addition, all affected families will be provided six months of free ration as part of the relief measures.

The Chief Minister also announced the upgradation of the Ridkmar Primary Health Centre to a Community Health Centre, aimed at strengthening healthcare facilities in the area.

The announcements come as the state government continues relief and rehabilitation efforts for residents affected by the cloudburst and subsequent flooding in Boh Valley.
