HITEX To Host Three-Day ‘Thread Pochampally’ Handloom Showcase From June 5
A vibrant celebration of Telangana’s rich handloom heritage is set to unfold in Hyderabad as the three-day ‘Thread Pochampally’ Exhibition will be held from June 5 to 7 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre .
The event aims to bring the timeless artistry of Pochampally handlooms closer to urban audiences while creating a direct platform for weavers and artisans from Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district to connect with buyers, designers and craft enthusiasts.
Organisers said the exhibition is designed not just as a commercial marketplace, but as a living cultural experience that highlights the craftsmanship, traditions and rural lifestyle associated with Telangana’s famed weaving communities.
More than 100 exclusive stalls will feature authentic handwoven textiles sourced directly from local weavers and manufacturers. Visitors can explore a wide range of products including traditional handloom fabrics, luxury sarees and contemporary apparel inspired by the iconic Pochampally weaving style .
One of the key attractions of the exhibition will be live demonstrations of traditional weaving techniques on handlooms. Artisans will also showcase the intricate tie-and-dye process , a signature element that gives Pochampally textiles their globally recognised identity. The interactive sessions are expected to offer visitors a closer look at the skill and precision involved in handloom production.
Adding to the cultural experience, organisers are also planning to serve traditional cuisine from the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri region during the event.
The exhibition is also being seen as an effort to promote rural tourism in the district. Tourism information and curated travel routes will be introduced to encourage weekend visits to Pochampally , located just a few hours from Hyderabad.
By blending tradition, craftsmanship, culture and tourism on a single platform, the organisers hope the exhibition will strengthen appreciation for Telangana’s handloom sector while creating new opportunities for rural artisans.
