Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita has strongly condemned remarks allegedly made by senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former minister Gudivada Amarnath , describing them as a degrading attack on a woman holding public office and a reflection of the opposition party's political culture.

In a statement posted on X, Anita said the language used against her was too offensive to be repeated publicly. She argued that the comments went beyond personal criticism and amounted to a caste-based and gender-driven attack on a Dalit woman serving in a constitutional position.

The Home Minister said that women who rise through determination, hard work, and public service are often subjected to personal abuse when political opponents are unable to challenge them on issues of governance. She noted that such attacks were not new to her political journey, but insisted they had only strengthened her resolve.

"These incidents do not intimidate me; they reinforce my commitment to public service," Anita said, asserting that she would neither remain silent nor back down in the face of intimidation.

Framing the controversy as a broader social issue, Anita said the episode was not merely an attack on her but on the self-respect of women across Andhra Pradesh . She argued that targeting women leaders with abusive and caste-based remarks exposes a mindset that is at odds with a society that traditionally celebrates women as symbols of strength and leadership.

The minister also used the occasion to highlight the ruling alliance's commitment to women's empowerment. She pointed to the support extended by the TDP-led NDA government for the Women's Reservation Bill and noted that the Telugu Desam Party has announced 33 percent reservation for women in party representation ahead of future elections.

Anita contrasted this with what she described as the opposition's approach toward women in politics. While leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have encouraged greater female participation in leadership roles, she alleged that sections of the opposition continue to rely on personal attacks and humiliation.

Raising concerns about the challenges faced by women in public life, Anita questioned what such incidents mean for aspiring women leaders if even a serving Home Minister can become the target of abusive political rhetoric.

She expressed confidence that the people of Andhra Pradesh would reject what she termed misogyny, caste arrogance, and politics of intimidation , while reaffirming her commitment to serving the public without fear or compromise.
