A local court in Hyderabad has sentenced a 22-year-old madrasa teacher to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000 in a serious child sexual abuse case, delivering what officials described as a strong and decisive verdict under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) framework.

According to prosecution details, the incident took place involving an 11-year-old boy who was studying at a madrasa located in Shahin Nagar. The child reportedly began avoiding classes for several days and showed signs of distress, which alerted his father. When questioned at home, the boy disclosed the abuse, leading to a formal complaint.

The complaint was lodged on March 23, 2022, at Balapur Police Station. Police officials stated that the accused, identified as Syed Nadeem (22), had taken the minor away under coercive circumstances and committed the assault. It was further alleged that the victim was threatened with death to prevent him from revealing the incident to anyone.

Following the complaint, investigators conducted a detailed probe, collecting corroborative evidence before filing a charge sheet. The case was later tried before the designated POCSO Special Court in Hyderabad, which found the accused guilty after examining the evidence and witness statements.

The court, while pronouncing the sentence, imposed 20 years of rigorous imprisonment under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code, along with a monetary penalty. Officials noted that the judgment reinforces the judiciary’s strict stance on crimes against minors and underscores the importance of swift reporting and thorough investigation in such sensitive cases.

The verdict has been described as a significant legal outcome in ensuring accountability in child protection cases and reaffirming the enforcement of stringent laws designed to safeguard minors from sexual offences.
