Hyderabad Deploys 1,000 Police Personnel for Annual Fish Prasadam Distribution
Authorities have put in place extensive security and traffic management measures for the annual Fish Prasadam distribution at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds , with thousands of devotees expected to participate in the traditional event.
Reviewing the arrangements on Monday, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar conducted an on-site inspection of the venue and assessed preparations aimed at ensuring the programme proceeds smoothly. He examined the queue management system, distribution counters and the mini command-and-control centre set up to monitor operations during the event.
Senior police officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Tafseer Iqbal , Joint Commissioner Joel Davis and Golconda DCP Chandra Mohan , accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.
Speaking to reporters, Sajjanar said the distribution would commence at 9 pm on Monday , adding that all arrangements had been completed jointly by the Bathini family and the state government. More than 25,000 devotees from across the country have already arrived in Hyderabad ahead of the event, he said.
To maintain law and order and manage the expected rush, nearly 1,000 police personnel have been deployed. Special crime teams, She Teams and Task Force units have also been assigned duties to prevent thefts and respond swiftly to any untoward incidents.
In view of the large number of visitors arriving from other states, authorities will make public announcements in Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati to assist attendees. Special medical teams and five ambulances have been stationed at the venue to handle emergencies and provide immediate healthcare support if required.
The annual Fish Prasadam programme, a long-standing tradition in Hyderabad, draws large crowds every year and requires extensive coordination among police, civic and health authorities. Officials expect heavy footfall throughout the distribution period and have urged visitors to cooperate with security personnel and follow designated routes.
Sajjanar appealed to the public not to pay heed to rumours regarding the availability of the prasadam, assuring that adequate quantities have been arranged for all devotees. He also advised local residents to plan their visit accordingly in view of the anticipated crowds.
