The Telangana government is stepping up efforts to transform Hyderabad into a national and global hub for gaming, visual effects (VFX) and animation, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju said. Acting on the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the government is working to attract leading international companies in these sectors and encourage them to establish their operations in the city.

Jaju made the remarks while reviewing preparations for the Telangana Global Summit, scheduled to be held in December at Bharat Future City in Hyderabad. The review meeting took place at the Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Wednesday and was attended by senior officials, including IT Department Joint Secretary Anudeep Durishetty.

The Chief Secretary said the summit was part of Telangana’s broader vision of building a $1 trillion economy. Special initiatives would be organised to attract globally recognised companies from the animation, gaming, VFX, creative and entertainment sectors, while also creating opportunities for investment, innovation and business partnerships.

The summit will be held under the theme “Stories, Games & Dreams”, with programmes designed to engage and inspire young people. A dedicated Comic, Gaming & VFX Business Day will be organised, along with events such as Comic Con, DreamHack and India Game Utsav.

A B2B Expo, Innovation Zone and animation stalls will also be set up as part of the summit. These platforms will showcase emerging technologies, new innovations and investment and business opportunities across the gaming, animation and VFX ecosystem.

Jaju said Hyderabad already has a growing presence in the sector, with around 50 large companies and nearly 150 mid-sized animation and gaming firms operating in the city. The government intends to build on this existing ecosystem by bringing more global companies to Hyderabad and expanding career opportunities for young people.

Students from schools and colleges in the city will also be invited to experience the summit’s exhibitions and programmes. Officials are making arrangements for students from around 70 colleges, while the events are expected to attract nearly 50,000 visitors.

According to Jaju, the initiatives are aimed at strengthening creativity and skills among young people while positioning Hyderabad as a world-class centre for creative and entertainment industries.
