Hyderabad Gets Ambedkar Knowledge Centre, SC Hostel in ₹135-Crore Welfare Initiative
The Telangana government is set to strengthen educational and welfare infrastructure in the state with the construction of a Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Knowledge Centre in Hyderabad at an estimated cost of ₹110 crore , Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced on Monday.
Accompanied by Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar , the Deputy Chief Minister inspected the proposed site near Lower Tank Bund, along with the location earmarked for a new SC hostel complex at Nimboli Adda in Kachiguda, which will be built at a cost of ₹25 crore .
Speaking after the inspection, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government's primary objective is the creation of a welfare-oriented state where quality education and opportunities are accessible to all sections of society. He noted that both projects have already received the necessary financial and administrative approvals , enabling the government to move ahead with implementation.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the proposed facilities are designed to be much more than conventional buildings. They are envisioned as modern knowledge hubs that can support thousands of students, particularly those preparing for competitive examinations and seeking access to quality academic resources.
According to officials, the Ambedkar Knowledge Centre will be developed as a modern multi-storey complex consisting of a cellar, ground floor and ten additional floors. The facility will include study circles, a digital library, advanced conference halls and dedicated learning spaces , creating an integrated environment for academic growth and career preparation.
Bhatti Vikramarka said the government is determined to address the difficulties faced by unemployed youth and students who often struggle to find suitable coaching and study facilities. By providing world-class infrastructure under one roof, the centre is expected to become a valuable resource for aspirants preparing for various competitive and professional examinations.
The proposed three-storey SC hostel at Nimboli Adda is expected to meet a long-standing demand of Dalit students and economically disadvantaged families. The facility will provide improved residential accommodation and a supportive environment for students pursuing higher education in Hyderabad.
Emphasizing the broader significance of the projects, the Deputy Chief Minister said both institutions would emerge as important centres for education, knowledge development and social empowerment , reflecting the state's commitment to expanding opportunities for future generations.
Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav , MLAs Mutha Gopal and Kaleru Venkatesh , MLC Addanki Dayakar , and senior officials from the Social Welfare Department were present during the site inspection.
