Hyderabad Heroes Crush Mumbai Dreamers to Win Rugby Premier League Title
Hyderabad Heroes delivered a commanding performance to be crowned champions of the Rugby Premier League , defeating Mumbai Dreamers 41-17 in a one sided final at the Gachibowli Stadium on Sunday.
The Dreamers began strongly and enjoyed early possession, but they could not turn territorial dominance into points. Hyderabad’s well organised defence stood firm, repeatedly forcing turnovers and disrupting Mumbai’s attacking rhythm at crucial moments.
Once the pressure was absorbed, the Heroes shifted gears with sharp and decisive counter attacking rugby. A crucial moment came when Francisco Cosculluela produced a timely steal, setting up Taitaifono Tavita for a key move, while Manuel Moreno soon regained possession in another passage that opened the door for Shivam Shukla to finish with ease.
Just before halftime, Maurice Longbottom added a drop goal that further strengthened Hyderabad’s control and gave them a comfortable cushion heading into the break.
After the interval, the champions maintained their intensity, combining disciplined defence with efficient finishing. The result never looked in doubt as they continued to stretch the lead and close out a dominant victory.
In the third place playoff, Bengaluru Bravehearts edged past Chennai Bulls 22-19 in a closely fought contest.
At the end of the tournament, Hyderabad Heroes walked away with the winners’ prize of ₹45 lakh, while Mumbai Dreamers received ₹25 lakh. Bengaluru Bravehearts earned ₹15 lakh for finishing third.
